Cross Country

Calvert began its 15th and 16th Varsity Sports with the addition of Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country for the 1996-97 school year, under the direction of Stewart Behm.  The Boys fielded a full team while the Girls ran two runners in each event.  The Boys finished 5th in the MAL in their first league effort.  In 2002 the girls team placed 7th in the MAL.  The boys did not have enough members to run as a team. In 2004 each sport had enough members to run as a team.  In 2006 and 2007, the Girls won the NWOCSA, the program’s first titles of any kind.  In 2007, the Boys and Girls both won the Buckeye Central Invitational.  The Boys had success in 2007 due in large part to Zach Szablewski.  He not only was all regional, but also was a state qualifier, as well as the first Seneca runner to win MAL Runner of the Year. The 2009 season brought the first MAL Title for the Boys’ Team, with Behm taking Coach of the Year honors.  Coach Behm continues coaching Boys and Girls Cross Country.
