Track and Field

Calvert began its 12th sport when Track Club was offered in the 1988-89 school year, under the direction of Scot Flechtner.  Track and Field became a full varsity sport in the 1989-90 school year under Flechtner’s guidance.  Terry Mark took over as head coach before the 1991 season, and Kelly Kirkhart directed the squad for two years from 1992-93, producing a district runner-up finish for the girls’ team in 1992.  Bob Stover took over the program before the 1994 season.  Stover resigned in 1995 to work the Olympics in Atlanta.  Stewart Behm took over the program thereafter, producing a district title for the boys in 1998, and a STATE CHAMPION in the boys’ 4 X 400 relay.   In 2001 the Girls track won the MAL and sent five participants to state.  That same year, the girls won NWOCSA and the boys sent one to the State tournament.  The girls won their second consecutive NWOCSA title in 2002.  Coach Behm continues as both the head boys and head girls track coach after 14 years at the helm.
